LOS ANGELES (AP) - City inspectors are at a Hollywood Hills home where the backyard crumbled, sending mud and debris down a slope, across a street and into the front yards of two other houses.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott says the Monday night slide took out power lines and buried one vehicle but did not reach the inside of the homes. No one was injured.

Residents from one house were safely removed by firefighters, and four other homes were evacuated.

About 400 customers lost electricity, but it was restored for most within hours. City officials are surveying the scene Tuesday.

No cause has been given. Los Angeles hasn’t had rain in a week, but was pounded by storms before that. It’s not uncommon for slides to occur days after rain.
