ELKO, Nev. (AP) - A northeastern Nevada man has been found not guilty of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.

The Elko Daily Free Press reported (https://bit.ly/2kpKoYi ) Monday that a jury found 27-year-old Efren del Angel-Flores not guilty of sexual assault and burglary charges last week.

The Elko man was arrested in May after the victim reported to a relative that he had raped her at an apartment while her family was away.

The teen’s aunt testified during the four-day trial that she came home and saw Angel-Flores run out of the apartment to his truck parked across the street, which had been left running.

But defense attorney Roger Stewart called the trial “a case of cheating” and says there were conflicting statements from the victim about how Angel-Flores gained entry to the apartment.
