JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - The publisher of the Juneau Empire and the Capital City Weekly has stepped down.

The Juneau Empire reports (https://bit.ly/2iga0mL) Rustan Burton has accepted a job in the Midwest.

Burton became publisher of the Juneau paper in 2013. He had previously worked for Forum Communications and the former Anchorage Daily News.

Deedie McKenzie, publisher of the Peninsula Clarion in Kenai and the group publisher for Alaska Media Partners, will serve as interim publisher.
