LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police say they’re looking for the killer of a man who was believed to have been homeless after he was found dead in a vacant lot near downtown.

Police said Thursday the man had head injuries and had apparently been beaten to death before his body was found about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday near Ogden Avenue and City Parkway.

That’s about a block east of Main Street, not far from the Smith Center for the Performing Arts.

An assailant wasn’t identified and a motive wasn’t immediately known. No arrests have been made.

The Clark County coroner didn’t immediately release the man’s name or a cause of death, pending notification of family members.
