SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - An overnight winter storm dumped as much as 9 inches of snow on parts of northern Utah and forced at least half a dozen school districts to cancel or delay classes Thursday.
The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City reported that Salt Lake City International Airport saw nearly 5 inches of snow overnight while other pockets of Salt Lake City saw 3 to 4 inches of snow.
Further north, parts of Bountiful sitting on the bench of the Wasatch Mountains recorded 9 inches of snow. In nearby South Ogden, 6 inches fell overnight.
Data from Utah’s Department of Transportation showed scattered highway crashes from commuters braving snowy roads Thursday morning and heavy slowing in Salt Lake County and Utah on Interstate 15 and Interstate 215.
