PAINCOURTVILLE, La. (AP) - A Belle Rose man who was an aspiring rapper has been killed and another man injured in a double shooting.

Media outlets report that 28-year-old Nehemiah Jones, also known as Duffle Bag Gudda, and a man authorities haven’t named were found with gunshot wounds early Thursday in the front yard of a Paincourtville home. Jones was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office Commander Lonny Cavalier says the men didn’t live in the neighborhood where they were found.

On Thursday afternoon, deputies arrested 38-year-old Kirby Thomas, a resident of the home where the men were found. He faces drug distribution and weapons charges.

Cavalier says detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Online jail records do not indicate whether Thomas has an attorney.
