RENO, Nev. (AP) - A 27-year-old Reno man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the gunpoint rape and attempted murder of a teenage girl and the kidnapping and robbery of her father and her boyfriend in June 2015.

Timothy Randell was sentenced by Washoe County District Court Judge Patrick Flanagan to the maximum on all charges after Randell pleaded guilty in October to multiple felony charges and weapon enhancements.

Washoe County District Attorney Chris Hicks says Randell and an accomplice used an assault-style rifle to force the victims into an apartment where they bound the father and boyfriend with duct tape and took turns attacking the 16-year-old girl and ransacking the residence.

The assailants fled when an attempt to set the apartment afire failed.

Randell was later arrested by Reno police, but the second suspect hasn’t been identified.
