PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - Prescott police say they have seen a rash of home burglaries in recent months in which thieves are breaking into unoccupied homes and making off with appliances.

The targets are unoccupied homes that are listed for sale. Police say thieves break in through a door and come out of the garage with washers, dryers, fridges, microwaves and even toilets.

The Prescott Police Department says six break-ins have occurred and that it’s difficult to catch a suspect because the thefts aren’t reported immediately, given that the homes are unoccupied. They are urging the public to be on the lookout for suspicious activity in neighborhoods and report incidents to police.
