COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - An investigation is underway after police shot a 16-year-old boy at an apartment complex in Colorado Springs.

The Gazette reports (https://goo.gl/8JYBYI ) the teenager, whose name has not been released, was shot by SWAT officers at the Pine Creek Village Apartments on Thursday afternoon.

Investigators say the teen, who was wanted on assault, menacing and burglary charges, was armed when officers encountered him. He remained hospitalized Friday with serious injuries.

No other details were released.

The newspaper reports residents at the apartment complex were reluctant to talk about the shooting but pointed to a stairwell near a laundry room door. Four bullet holes were spread across the middle of the door, and discarded packages for bandages and clotting agents littered the floor.
