JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Jacksonville police say a man wanted for murder shot himself just before authorities tried to arrest him.

Officers searching for Lance Lee Norman heard a single gunshot as they entered an abandoned home where he was hiding Saturday. They found Norman gravely wounded with a gunshot to the head. Sheriff’s officials said the gun found beside him was the same gun they believed killed kill 61-year-old Keeble Grant.

The Florida Times-Union (https://tinyurl.com/hlqghqc ) reports 33-year-old Norman was taken to the hospital unresponsive and in life-threatening condition.

Authorities say Grant was fatally shot shortly after midnight Saturday after Norman allegedly confronted him in a dispute about a woman.
