GILBERT, Ariz. (AP) - Gilbert police say a 7-month-old baby who was airlifted to a hospital after some sort of fall has died.

They say the girl sustained “multi-system injuries” Monday morning and was transported to Maricopa Medical Center, where she later died.

The name of the girl hasn’t been released yet.

Police say paramedics were called to a home to check out a “pediatric code” shortly before 10 a.m.

When they arrived, they found police officers giving the baby girl CPR. They immediately took over and called in a medical helicopter.

While it’s not clear what happened to the baby, police say a fall was involved.

Police are still investigating the incident and say the county medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
