ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Several Minnesota senators are challenging a decision to stop displaying the portraits of all governors at the state Capitol.

The Minnesota Historical Society decided last fall that the portraits would be rotated due to space limitations after the Capitol’s renovation.

Minnesota Public Radio reports (https://bit.ly/2iVYm3z ) the senators say it’s important to recognize all past governors.

They’ve introduced legislation to require all 38 be displayed at once.

Meanwhile, a series of Civil War-themed paintings that also stoked debate are set to be rehung this month.
