RENO, Nev. (AP) - A judge has denied a bail request from a Las Vegas man suspected in a drunken driving crash that left two brothers dead.

KSNV-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2iYcYzD ) that Willie Worthams appeared in court Monday to ask Judge Suzan Baucum to release him on house arrest or lower his $500,000 bail. But Baucum denied the request, saying “two lives have been lost.”

Jermaine Asher and Robert Sean Roberts, both in their 20s, were killed in the November crash after prosecutors say Worthams drove at speeds of up to 115 mph while alcohol was in his system.

Worthams’ attorney argued that the victims weren’t wearing seat belts and didn’t have their headlights on at the time of the collision.

Worthams will remain in custody and is scheduled for another court appearance next week.
