NEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut environmental police say a Newtown man has died in a boating accident on a local lake.

Police say 52-year-old Randall Pineau was operating a pontoon boat on Lake Zoar at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday when his vessel was struck by another boat.

Pineau, of the Sandy Hook neighborhood, was taken to Danbury Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His wife, Katherine, was treated for minor injuries at the hospital and released. A third person who suffered minor injuries refused treatment at the scene. A total of six people were on the two vessels.

The accident remains under investigation by the state’s Environmental Conservation Police.
