CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina woman is accused by police of running an illegal day care where a 2-month-old died last year.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said in a news release Wednesday that 53-year-old Aqunietta White was taken into custody on Tuesday. She is charged with providing child care without a license.

Police responding to a call from a location on the city’s north side found a 2-month-old boy unresponsive in a crib. The infant was taken to Carolinas Medical Center University, where he was pronounced dead.

The medical examiner’s office determined that the infant died from suffocation. No charges were filed at the time, but an investigation was begun. Authorities confirmed that White was running an illegal day care and a warrant was signed for her arrest.

White’s status wasn’t known on Wednesday.
