MUNDELEIN, Ill. (AP) - Power outages caused by flooding has forced the evacuation of a suburban Chicago hospital.

Northwestern Medicine spokeswoman Megan McCann says Lake Forest Hospital is transferring patients to other facilities.

McCann said late Wednesday she didn’t know how many patients were being moved from the hospital or to where they were being taken.

Officials of the Lake Forest Fire Department were not immediately available for comment.

Deputy Police Chief Rob Copeland says there were numerous ambulances at the hospital to take away patients.

A line of thunderstorms moved across northern Illinois late through early Wednesday. The National Weather Service reported Libertyville recorded 6 inches of rainfall and Lake Forest had nearly 6 inches. Flash flood warnings were in effect for parts of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake and McHenry counties.
