SANDY HOOK, N.J. (AP) - A girl rescued from the surf at a New Jersey shore beach has died.

The Gateway National Recreation Area at Sandy Hook says the 12-year-old was with her family when she got into trouble in the ocean just before 6 p.m. Sunday. Lifeguards administered CPR and she was taken to a hospital.

The girl died Monday morning.



Her name has not been released.
