EASLEY, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina coroner says a woman died in a house fire after she called emergency officials to report the fire.

Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley tells WYFF that a woman called authorities early Sunday morning and said she was trapped inside her home near Easley.

Kelley said firefighters found the woman’s body inside her bedroom.

She says investigators believe they know the woman’s identity. However, an autopsy will be conducted Monday to confirm that.

The woman’s husband and mother-in-law lived in an adjoining structure on the property. Kelley says they escaped the flames.

Investigators with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Agency will investigate the fire.
