SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Police say an intruder was identified after dropping his wallet during a home invasion.

The Republican reports (https://bit.ly/2tvbPWK ) 33-year-old Ryan Sullivan took about $1,000 worth of jewelry and a bottle of pain medicine from a woman’s home in Springfield July 3.

Police say the woman grabbed a metal pipe after hearing a loud noise and found Sullivan in the kitchen. He managed to escape after being struck twice, but left his wallet behind.

Police say the woman was able to identify Sullivan based on the driver’s license photo.

He has pleaded not guilty to felony breaking and entering and larceny following his arrest Wednesday.

Sullivan’s lawyer says the man is battling drug addiction, and he is “begging the court” for another chance at treatment.
