CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Authorities have identified an inmate found dead in a South Carolina jail.

The Charleston County coroner tells local media outlets 28-year-old Quindell Huggins was found dead by a detention officer shortly before 6 p.m. Friday at the Charleston County jail.

The State Law Enforcement Division and local deputies are investigating the death, which the coroner says was a suicide.

County records show Huggins had been arrested four times in the last six years for failure to pay child support.
