BALTIMORE (AP) - Baltimore police say they plan to charge a man with murder for causing a fatal house fire last month.

Police said in a statement Monday that 59-year-old Daniel Brewer was found unconscious inside a burning vacant house June 4. He was later pronounced dead in a hospital.

Investigators have since ruled Brewer’s death a homicide and are seeking a murder charge against 23-year-old Daquein McNeil. McNeil is already behind bars on arson charges in connection with the fire.

Police believe McNeil set the fire amid a drug dispute with an unidentified person who was staying inside the vacant dwelling. Authorities say Brewer was not the intended target.

It’s unclear whether McNeil has an attorney.
