MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - An Oregon man convicted of forcing a woman into prostitution has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison.
The Herald and News reported (https://is.gd/D6pBHy ) Tuesday that 28-year-old Javieon Drum of Klamath Falls pleaded no contest to trafficking in persons and coercion.
Police arrested Drum and 26-year-old Ahmanda Parke in November while investigating a human trafficking ring with connections in Oregon, Washington and Wyoming.
Prosecutors said the couple forced a woman into prostitution in Medford, threatening to hold her child hostage if she didn’t work.
Parke pleaded guilty last month to promoting prostitution. She was sentenced to probation after agreeing to testify against Drum.
