NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Authorities in New Jersey’s largest city say a contractor has been injured after falling down an airport elevator shaft.

According to Port Authority spokesman Joseph Pentangelo, the 38-year-old worker suffered neck and back injuries after falling at Newark Liberty International Airport Thursday night. NJ.com reports (https://bit.ly/2w5rlFx ) the man was taken to University Hospital in Newark with injuries that aren’t life-threatening.

An investigation is ongoing.
