BELINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - An inmate has died a day after being booked into a West Virginia jail on a murder charge.

Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety spokesman Lawrence Messina tells the Charleston Gazette-Mail that 63-year-old Randy Shull was found unresponsive in his cell Thursday morning at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail in Belington.

Messina says the death is not believed to be a suicide. West Virginia State Police and state jail officials are investigating.

According to a criminal complaint, Shull was arrested at his home in Parsons on Wednesday after Katherine Lillie was found dead on the floor. Shull was charged with second-degree murder.
