COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina inmate has been recaptured after walking away from his job.

The state Department of Corrections says 37-year-old Michael Allman was declared missing about 7 p.m. Friday from his job at Polymer Processing Inc. in Rock Hill, and Rock Hill police arrested him within a couple of hours.

Allman was assigned to the Catawba Pre-Release Center about 30 miles south of uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. The minimum-security facility holds non-violent offenders who can work in the community as they prepare for release.

Allman began serving a 10-year sentence for second-degree burglary last July. He was transferred to the Rock Hill prison in February and was eligible for parole next May.
