TOMS RIVER, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a woman was badly burned when a can of cooking spray exploded while she was preparing food in her home.

The accident occurred around 5:20 p.m. Friday in Toms River. Township police say the blast released super-heated liquid that quickly caught fire and spread to the 46-year-old woman’s body.

The victim was flown to a hospital for treatment of extensive burns to her face, torso and thighs. Further details on her condition were not available Saturday and her name has not been released.

No other injuries were reported in the accident, which remains under investigation.
