MAX, N.D. (AP) - Bystanders rescued a woman and three children after their sport utility vehicle overturned in a slough in central North Dakota.

The Highway Patrol says the 22-year-old woman driving the SUV and towing a car lost control on U.S. Highway 83 near Max Sunday afternoon, and the vehicle ended up in the water.

Authorities say six bystanders stopped and were able to flip the vehicle upright, break out windows and rescue the woman and her passengers - a 5-year-old girl, a 2-year-old girl and 3-month-old boy.

One of the bystanders performed CPR on one of the children until help arrived. All of the people in the vehicle were taken to a Minot hospital with unknown injuries.

The patrol says the woman is being charged with driving under suspension and reckless endangerment.
