SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Authorities say a police officer in Louisiana has been placed on departmental leave after his arrest on an outstanding warrant.

The Shreveport Times reports that Shreveport Police Officer Derek Snyder was arrested Friday for an outstanding warrant on one count of violation of Louisiana Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information Regulations. Snyder was hired by the department in 2014.

Shreveport police said in a news release that Snyder allegedly acquired several criminal histories on citizens for personal gain outside of his official duties as an officer.

Authorities say any employee charged with a crime will be placed on departmental leave.

It’s unclear if Snyder has a lawyer.
