SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. (AP) - A loose balloon is being blamed for a power outage in Long Island.

Officials say more than 1,300 businesses and homes in Southampton were affected by the outage Tuesday afternoon. PSEG Long Island spokeswoman Elizabeth Flagler tells (https://nwsdy.li/2uIV9XA ) Newsday a balloon with a metallic coating touched a primary wire, causing the short circuit.

Power was restored for customers within 90 minutes.
