SAN DIEGO (AP) - Police say a homeless man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly setting a fire that severely burned another transient at a San Diego encampment.

The Union-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2sMdd1K ) witnesses at the homeless camp along the San Diego River pulled the victim out of his burning tent late Tuesday.

Officer John Buttle tells the newspaper the 63-year-old man is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses say the suspect and the victim were heard arguing before the fire broke out.
