MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a man accused of firing his gun during a seven-hour standoff with police has been ordered to remain in jail until his trial.

Burlington County prosecutors say 54-year-old Jeffrey Wass faces charges of aggravated assault, weapons charges and causing a risk of widespread injury or damage.

They say an apartment maintenance worker entered his home to investigate the small of gas and found him unconscious on the couch with gas coming out of his unlit stove.

Authorities say Wass then told police not to enter and he fired a gunshot inside the apartment after an officer yelled for him to answer his phone.

It wasn’t immediately clear if Wass had an attorney to comment on his behalf.
