CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - Two people were killed in a collision between a car and a pickup in Casper shortly after a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper had ended a pursuit of the car.

The patrol says the trooper tried to stop the driver for speeding Thursday night, but he sped away. The trooper discontinued the pursuit as it neared the Casper city limits.

The driver continued into the city and crashed into a pickup at an intersection. The collision killed both people in the car and injured three people in the pickup, including two children.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports the two people in the car were identified as 39-year-old Douglas Arthur, who was driving, and 34-year-old Lyle Tsinnijinnie.

Casper police are investigating the crash.
