CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A judge set bail at $50,000 for a 57-year-old man charged with killing his girlfriend in the basement of a Thai restaurant in Cheyenne where he had been working and living.
Emigdio Lara made an initial court appearance Thursday on a second-degree murder charge in the death of 21-year-old Victoria Juarez. Her body was found on June 26.
Lara was arrested on Wednesday. He did not enter a plea during his court appearance on Thursday. He was appointed a public defender and his preliminary hearing was set for July 14.
Prosecutors say surveillance video showed Lara letting the woman into the restaurant at 8 a.m. on June 26 and them going down into the basement. An hour later, the video shows Lara coming upstairs with blood on his hands and face.
