Florida man accused of stabbing 70-year-old woman

ST. CLOUD, Fla. (AP) - A man is accused of breaking into the home of a 70-year-old woman and stabbing her multiple times.

The Orlando Sentinel reports 29-year-old Hiram Ortiz was arrested Thursday. He’s charged with the attempted murder, armed burglary and aggravated battery on the woman.

St. Cloud police Sgt. Anthony Miller says Ortiz broke into the woman’s home early Saturday and stabbed her. She was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening.

Miller says evidence found at the scene led them to Ortiz.

Police haven’t said whether Ortiz knew the woman.
