NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A federal grand jury has indicted two men allegedly connected with the fatal shooting of an armored-truck employee in New Orleans.

Acting U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans says Deltoine Scott and Jerome Kieffer, both 24 and of New Orleans, were indicted Thursday on charges of attempted bank robbery resulting in death, using a firearm and in relation to a crime of violence that resulted in death and making false statements to a federal agent.

Authorities say on May 31 two men wearing hoods and masks attempted to rob 33-year-old Jimmy McBride, a Loomis employee, while he’d been servicing ATMs. McBride’s co-worker and the men exchanged gunfire before he was killed.

If convicted of the attempt bank robbery, Scott and Kieffer face a mandatory life sentence or death.
