DECATUR, Ala. (AP) - Authorities have made an arrest in a fatal stabbing in the north Alabama city of Decatur.
Police spokesman Lt. Proncey Robertson says 59-year-old John Paul Puckett St. is charged with murder in the killing of James Paul Ward.
A police statement describes Puckett as a transient with an extensive criminal record. Court documents aren’t yet available to show whether he has a lawyer.
Police responding to a 911 call found Ward’s body inside a home. An officer saw a man walking away from the scene and arrested Puckett.
Investigators believe Ward was stabbed to death during a fight.
