HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - A Superior Court panel has rejected the appeal of a man convicted of killing two people after he was bumped in a crowded Philadelphia bar.
PennLive.com (https://bit.ly/2uVXO0c ) reports that the appeals court upheld the conviction and sentence of 36-year-old Shaheed Warren in the May 2014 killings outside the Mark V Lounge.
Authorities said Warren shot and killed 27-year-old Dontae Brown after the two argued about an apology. A man walking by the bar was also killed and another man severely injured in the gunfire.
Warren was convicted in a nonjury trial and sentenced to life without parole plus 20 to 40 years. He argued that a mistrial was warranted because witnesses against him were unreliable and one testified he had confessed, something the defense hadn’t known she would say.
