JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - Three people escaped from a burning home with the help of several firefighters who happened to be in the area as they drove to a training event.
Jersey City fire officials say no serious injuries were reported in the blaze, which broke out around 8:45 a.m. Sunday.
A man and a woman riding on a motorcycle saw the flames and reported the fire. About a dozen firefighters riding in a van heard the call and went to the home.
The firefighters were able to put a ladder against the home and bring two men and a woman to safety.
The men and two firefighters were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. The woman was treated at a hospital for undisclosed injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
