PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities say a man will face charges of driving under the influence in a Philadelphia crash that killed a female pedestrian and injured a 9-year-old boy.
Police say the 39-year-old man was driving a sport utility vehicle in the Port Richmond section shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday that jumped the curb, hit the victims and then toppled and dragged a light pole.
The 28-year-old woman was trapped under the vehicle and was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, where she died about a half-hour later.
The boy was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital and listed in stable condition with a broken leg and bruises. The driver was treated for minor injuries.
