SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - An autopsy shows an inmate found dead in a South Carolina jail died from hanging.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said an autopsy Sunday showed that 21-year-old Amarendra Dasa died from asphyxia from hanging.

Dasa’s body was found in the county jail around 5 a.m. Saturday.

The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the death.

Local media outlets reported Dasa was in jail after he was found incompetent to stand trial in the stabbing death of his 16-year-old brother Aja Dasa on Feb. 11, 2015.
