GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - A Mississippi sheriff’s office expects to upgrade charges against a man charged in a shooting after the victim later died.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2sl9Xie ) 19-year-old David Nicholas Ryals was booked into the Harrison County Jail Sunday on one count of aggravated assault. Harrison County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Ron Pullen says Blake Carroll was shot late Sunday night and airlifted to the University of South Alabama Medical Center, where he died.

Ryals was originally booked under $250,000 bond. Pullen says more details will be released Monday.

It’s unclear if Ryals has a lawyer.
