WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - An attorney for a Worcester man charged in a 2014 shooting death says his client was only present during an argument that happened before the gunfire.

Telegram & Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/2s3GTsF ) the murder trial of Fathi Jaara began Monday in Worcester Superior Court.

The 24-year-old man had previously faced an accessory charge in the October 2014 shooting of Christian Obeng.

Prosecutors allege Jaara helped orchestrate a plan to kill the 19-year-old Obeng, who was shot in the back of the head by another person outside an apartment. They say the shooting was gang-related.

Jaara’s attorney told jurors Monday it wasn’t clear who fired the first shot and that there’d be no evidence to show Jaara knew the shooter had a gun.
