WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - A former Pennsylvania police officer has pleaded guilty to reduced charges of corruption of minors for allegedly sexually abusing two boys.

Luzerne County prosecutors say 44-year-old David Turkos sexually abused the boys starting at ages 4 and 6 from the years 2001 to 2008. The former Dupont officer pleaded guilty Monday after prosecutors agreed to drop more serious charges including involuntary deviate sexual intercourse. Turkos and his attorney declined comment.

Turkos was still a part-time officer when the abuse occurred. The boys testified last year that Turkos threatened to harm their pets and loved ones if they told about the abuse, and threatened them with his gun.

Turkos previously pleaded guilty in 2008 to simple assault and harassment for beating his wife and stepson and sentenced two years later after pleading guilty to exposing himself to two children.
