DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - An August trial has been scheduled for an eastern Iowa high school teacher charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Court records say 46-year-old Dubuque resident Douglas Spahn has pleaded not guilty. His trial is set to begin Aug. 14 in Dubuque County. Court documents say Spahn told a Dubuque police officer that he used marijuana to treat his back pain.
The Dubuque Community School District has said Spahn has been placed on leave from his job as a wellness teacher at Hempstead High School.
