BALTIMORE (AP) - The parents of a five-month-old infant who died of severe trauma last week have been charged in connection with his death.
Local news outlets report that 27-year-old Angelique Petty and 31-year-old Perry Nelson-Johnson each face several charges in the death of Emmanuel Johnson, whose death June 9 was ruled a homicide by multiple blunt force traumas to the head.
Baltimore police announced Wednesday that Petty’s charges include first-degree assault and first-degree child abuse.
Nelson-Johnson turned himself in on Tuesday and his charges include first- and second-degree murder. Police believe that Nelson-Johnson, who is blind, used a blunt object to inflict the injuries.
Nelson-Johnson’s defense attorney Brandon Mead says his client never injured his son.
Court records did not show an attorney for Petty.
