PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP CALLS ON GOV. RICK SCOTT TO RUN FOR US SENATE
Trump on Friday told a crowd gathered in Miami that “I hope he runs” for the U.S. Senate. Scott has already said he is considering running for the seat held by Sen. Bill Nelson in 2018. Nelson, the only statewide elected Democrat in Florida, has already said he plans to run for a fourth term. Scott and other prominent Florida Republicans joined Trump for his announcement that he was making changes to Cuban policies put in place by President Barack Obama.
POLICE: FLORIDA MAN KILLED TEEN HE SOLICITED ONLINE FOR SEX
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office said Friday 25-year-old Tyquan Pearson was arrested Wednesday in Norfolk, Virginia, and charged with murder in the death of 19-year-old Brittany Taylor. Investigators acting on a tip found a container buried in a backyard and discovered a decomposing body.
PROSECUTOR: NO NEW PROBE OF FATAL SHOOTING BY FLORIDA DEPUTY
Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg said in a letter released Friday that filing new charges would be unethical because prosecutors don’t believe they could convict Sgt. Michael Custer. Aronberg said in the letter to an attorney for the family of 24-year-old Seth Adams that no new evidence exists.
INTESTINE-BACTERIA LEVELS IN WATER SHUT DOWN FLORIDA BEACH
People hoping to swim in the ocean around Sunny Isles Beach may need to change plans as the Florida Department of Health shut down an area until further notice. The department shut down a two-block stretch after samples showed the beach did not meet the recreational water quality standard for enterococci.
POLICE: FLORIDA WOMAN ADMITS RAPING 6-YEAR-OLD WITH FATHER
Manatee County sheriff’s investigators interviewed 28-year-old Melissa Deloach about the child her father was accused of raping and she admitted she watched and participated in the assault. She told investigators that the child was abused five or six times. She is being held without bond in the Manatee County jail. Jail records don’t say if she has an attorney.
