MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, Md. (AP) - A noose has been found hanging from a tree at a Maryland condominium complex.

Montgomery County police said in a statement that the synthetic rope noose was found in a common area near a parking lot at the Heron’s Cove Condominium on Thursday morning. The Washington Post reports (https://wapo.st/2rnbNLv) the noose was taken down by police.

Authorities say there is no indication that the noose was directed toward a specific person.

In recent weeks, a number of nooses have been found in the Washington area, including two at the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
