CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (AP) - Wisconsin residents are learning that baseball caps, energy drink cans and water bottles are among the ordinary items that can be purchased on the internet to conceal illegal drugs.

“Hiding in Plain Sight” was one of the presentations at a recent Healthy Youth Chippewa County event hosted by the Chippewa Falls School District, The Chippewa Herald (https://bit.ly/2sfqpj7 ) reported.

“Anything you can imagine can have a false top or bottom,” said Sarah Turner, a prevention specialist for the Barron County Community Coalition.

Attendees were presented with a variety of seemingly normal items and challenged to figure out which ones contained hidden compartments where drugs could be stored. Items included baseball caps, water bottles, energy drink bottles and a Rubik’s cube.

All of the items are available to be purchased online without checking the age of the buyer, said Lillian Pinero of the Burnett County Prevention Coalition.

“These are actually sold legitimately as hiding (a person’s) valuables,” she said.

Parents should be aware, but cautious, Turner said.

“Don’t dig into (a child’s) trash cans. Just pay attention to when you empty them out,” she said.

The event also offered presentations on social media and suicide prevention.
