RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A Rapid City woman accused of sexually molesting a 4-year-old girl has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison.

Twenty-seven-year-old Ashlee Goldsmith had pleaded guilty to sexual contact with a child younger than 16. The incident happened in October 2015 while Goldsmith was babysitting the daughter of a family friend.

The Rapid City Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2rCcdlk) that Judge Robert Mandel granted Goldsmith’s request for a prison sentence lower than the 10-year minimum because Goldsmith was a victim of child abuse as a child and does not have a significant criminal history.

Prosecutors had asked for a sentence of no lower than 10 years.
