MESA, Ariz. (AP) - A man has been arrested in connection with a double shooting at a Mesa apartment that killed the girlfriend of his former roommate.

Mesa police say 22-year-old Arturo Sanchez Perez is being held on suspicion of second-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Bond was set at $750,000 at Perez’s initial court appearance Monday. He doesn’t have a lawyer yet.

Police say Perez allegedly entered the apartment early Friday and shot 22-year-old Jesse Ibarra and 19-year-old Unique Aguilera following an argument.

Aguilera was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Ibarra survived and identified Perez from a photo shown to him after the shooting.
